Blackbook Through My Eyes: A Journey of Growth, Grit, and Great Design

Wow. Almost five years.
Sometimes I still can’t believe it’s been that long – but also, I kind of can? Because in that time, so much has changed.

When I first walked into Blackbook as a Junior Marketing Officer, I was 21 – bright-eyed, a little overwhelmed, and just hoping I wouldn’t accidentally hit “reply all” on the wrong email. I had no clue that I was stepping into something way bigger than just a “first job.” But Eleftheria saw a potential in me that I hadn’t yet seen in myself.

Now? I’m a full-grown Senior Multimedia Designer (wild) – and somehow, one of the few people who’ve been here since day one. Looking back, it’s honestly surreal. Blackbook isn’t just my workplace; it’s been my creative bootcamp, my playground, my pressure cooker, and my home base. It’s where I found my voice, discovered what I could really do, and helped build something from scratch with some of the best people I know.

From pitching Instagram carousels and designing moodboards to crafting full-on campaigns and visual identities, I’ve had a front-row seat to the agency’s glow-up. And in so many ways, our stories are completely intertwined. We’ve grown together.

So here it is: Blackbook, through my eyes – the lessons, the late nights, the laughs, the missteps, and the magic behind the pixels.

THE BLACKBOOK CULTURE: FROM THE INSIDE

If I had to sum up Blackbook’s culture in one word, it would be: electric.
There’s an energy that pulses through the team – equal parts madness and masterpieces – that makes even the craziest deadlines feel like a challenge we want to win.

But it’s not just about the work. It’s about how we work. It’s the 9 p.m. debates about whether a font is vintage-chic or just outdated. It’s the chaotic joy of the team singing and throwing flowers at Melisses concert. It’s the group chats that effortlessly swing from moodboards to memes.

Also, fun fact: I’m famously the one person at Blackbook who doesn’t drink coffee. Still standing. Still thriving. Barely.

I’ve seen us grow from a handful of ride-or-die creatives into a full-blown ecosystem – every person adding something new, while the spirit stays the same. Ideas matter more than titles. Hustle speaks louder than hierarchy. And wins? They’re always a team thing.

BECOMING A SENIOR: THE SHIFT IN PERSPECTIVE

Becoming a senior didn’t happen overnight – it was more like a slow realization that people were turning to me not just to design, but to decide.
Suddenly, I wasn’t just asking questions – I was answering them.

As a Senior Multimedia Designer, I’ve learned that leading isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about creating space for others to find great ones. I’ve become more intentional—in how I guide juniors, how I advocate for creative choices, and how I balance the big picture with the pixel-perfect details.

There’s nothing better than seeing a junior absolutely crush something you helped shape. Or pitching an idea in a client meeting and watching it land.
Being called one of the “foundations” of the company? That part still makes me pause. Because you’re not just making work – you’re setting the tone for what Blackbook is and what it can be.

CHALLENGES & RESILIENCE

For all the wins, there have been just as many wobbles. Projects that felt too big, timelines that felt too short, and moments where I genuinely wondered if I was good enough to deliver. But looking back, those were the moments that sharpened me the most.

One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned is that growth often shows up disguised as pressure. There were nights I stayed late reworking edits that weren’t hitting the mark, or mornings I presented work I wasn’t 100% sure about. But honestly? That’s when I grew the most.

Blackbook taught me to trust the process. Trust the people around me. And eventually – trust myself.

Resilience here isn’t just about pushing through – it’s about bouncing back better. There’s an unspoken pact at Blackbook: we have each other’s backs. When someone stumbles, we step in. When the work’s not working, we get honest, fix it, and move forward.
That’s how we’ve managed to grow as fast as we have – without losing the soul of the place.

FINAL REFLECTION & LOOKING AHEAD

When I think back to Day One – me, new, nervous, and secretly Googling design jargon – I just feel so much gratitude.
Gratitude for the leap I took. Gratitude for the people who backed me. And for the family I’ve found in this wonderfully wild creative space.

Being part of something from the ground up changes you. It makes every small win feel massive, and every milestone feel personal. I’ve had the chance not just to grow with Blackbook – but to help build it. That’s something I’ll carry with me always.

Looking ahead, I’m excited. Not just for what I’ll create, but for who I’ll create it with. Blackbook is still young. We’re still hungry. And if the past four years are anything to go by, the best is definitely yet to come.

To anyone stepping into our world now: bring your full self, bring your ideas, and don’t be afraid to speak up. The next chapter of Blackbook needs your voice. I’ll be here – cheering you on, and still learning, still designing, still growing.
